The state Medical Examining Board has taken action against 11 more doctors for handing out fake sick notes to protesters at the state Capitol during massive demonstrations in 2011. The Board on Wednesday reprimanded six doctors and gave five others administrative warnings.
All of those sanctioned were University of Wisconsin doctors or residents at the time.
A year ago, seven doctors were reprimanded for handing out excuses to demonstrators who protested the state’s limits on public union bargaining, while two residents were given warnings at that time.
The UW School of Medicine and Public Health last year handed out its own punishments to 11 faculty doctors and nine residents. They lost up to five days of pay and surrendered their leadership positions at the university for four months.
