Wisconsin has won back to back Big Ten Championship games after Saturday’s 70-31 victory over Nebraska at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Badgers have secured a third straight appearance at the Rose Bowl. The Badgers ran 640 yards of total offense, but most impressive is that they put up 539 rushing yards, the most ever against any Nebraska defense. Melvin Gordon was responsible for 216 yards on 9 carries, while Montee Ball added 202 yards on 21 carriers and James White added 109 yards on 15 carries.
Clearly frustrated, Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini gave his thoughts on the game during a post game press conference. Pelini said, “I’ve never been a part of a game like that, as a coach. For whatever reason we didn’t execute. We didn’t make tackles. We didn’t make plays. It’s not acceptable. At the end of the day, it falls on me. It falls directly on my shoulders, cause I’m responsible for how those kids play.”
Wisconsin will take on #6 Stanford, the Big Ten champion against the Pac-12 champion, January 1st in Pasadena. Wisconsin will be the first Big Ten team since the 1977 to 1979 Michigan Wolverines to play in three straight Rose Bowls. They go into the game on an 8-5 record against Stanford’s 11-2.
