Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker has no interest “at this time” in becoming the next head football coach at the University of Wisconsin.
Tucker played defensive back for the Badgers in the early 90’s. He spoke with Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez on Friday.
Tucker told the Jacksonville media that he was not offered the job. Tucker was in Barry Alvarez’ first recruiting class in 1990.
Tucker began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Michigan State under Nick Saban. He then coached for seven seasons at Miami (Ohio), LSU and Ohio State before leaving for the NFL.
Tucker coached four years in Cleveland with the Browns before going to Jacksonville.
