The Milwaukee Brewers avoided salary arbitration with left-handed pitcher Chris
Narveson, signing the pitcher to a 1-year contract worth $840,000.
Narveson was 1-1 in two starts last April before undergoing season-ending surgery on his left rotator cuff.
Four Brewers remain eligible for arbitration: right handers John Axford, Burke Badenhop, Marco Estrada and outfielder Carlos Gomez.
The Brewers also agreed to a minor league contract with right-hander Kelvim Escobar, who is pitching for Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League. The 36-year-old has pitched one game in the major leagues since 2007, for the Los Angeles Angels in June of 2009.
