The flu has kept over two hundred students out of one Wisconsin school. Both stomach flu and respiratory flu has left many empty chairs at the Neillsville School District this week.
District officials have called and emailed parents about the outbreak, encouraging them to keep their kids home if they show any symptoms of illness. When kids show signs of improvement, they want them to stay home until they have no fever or other symptoms for full 24-hours without the use of Tylenol, Advil, or Ibuprofen.
The district is also encouraging parents to consider getting their children flu shots at their doctor or local pharmacy.
Having about 1/5 of the school population sick is creating extra work for staff. Custodians have been doing a lot of extra sanitizing at the school to cut down on the spread of the viruses.
