The Rock County Sheriff has released more details on Wednesday’s shooting in the Town of Plymouth. Sheriff Robert Spoden said they’ve established a time line of the morning’s incidents, but it’s difficult to say exactly what may have sparked the shooting. “We know that she (the victim, 59 year-old Christine Gestrich) approached the barn in a skid loader. We believe that she was attempting to perhaps remove snow, and them from that point on we’re still trying to ascertain what exactly occurred,” said Spoden.
According to Spoden, Gestrich and the shooter, 75 year-old Daniel Bellard, had a history of disputes over property boundaries, but none of their previous encounters had turned violent. The shooting took place on Bellard’s property. Bellard remains in stable but critical condition at U-W Madison hospital with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
