Congressman Sean Duffy is repeating a theme to constituents: The federal government is spending too much money. A number of federal programs face sequestration, in other words, automatic spending cuts unless no deal is reached to cut spending or raise revenues.
During a series of meetings Thursday in the Northwoods, Duffy said he thinks automatic cuts are likely.

The Republican lawmaker said Medicare needs reform and Social Security needs tweaking to keep them solvent. With medical costs rising at about 8 percent a year, he said those entitlement programs will “collapse” unless something is done. “The Medicare trustees tell us that Medicare is going broke in twelve years.”
The Congressman said he stops in every county in the large 7th District each year.
