The Wisconsin Supreme Court candidates faced off in their one-and-only debate. Marquette Law professor Ed Fallone said he’s running to change what has become a toxic environment in the high court. “Practicing lawyers around the state continue to tell me that they are disappointed in our state Supreme Court,” said Fallone. “I believe the only way to change the court at this point is to change the personalities on the bench.”
Consumer advocate lawyer Vince Megna said he is running to be a “voice for the people” and mentioned the poor, truck drivers, waitresses, and teachers. “That’s who I represent and that’s the spirit that I take to the Supreme Court and will be with me in every case that I hear.”
Incumbent Justice Pat Roggensack touted her experience and how her opponents have not served on a bench. “The job of judging is determining largely whether another judge got it right. I have the broadest experience in that regard and in fact the only experience in that regard.”
The event took place Thursday and was sponsored by the Milwaukee Bar Association.
