Four finalists have been selected as the next UW Madison Chancellor. They are Acting U.S. Secretary of Commerce Dr. Rebecca Black, Dr. Nicholas Jones from The Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Michael Schill from the University of Chicago Law School, and Dr. Kim Wilcox from Michigan State.
David Giroux, Executive Director of Communications & External Relations with the University of Wisconsin System, said information on the candidates is posted on-line. The candidates will participate in a series of public forums between March 5th and March 13th.
“The reason why we do this is to get input from people,” said Giroux. “It’s actually an opportunity for anyone who cares about this process . . . to share their feedback with the chancellor search and screen committee.”
Giroux said the goal is to have a candidate selected and in place to succeed acting chancellor David Ward by this summer. Ward has served as interim chancellor since July of 2011, after Biddy Martin left for a position at Amhurst College.
