Mexico’s exit from the World Baseball Classic means the Milwaukee Brewers get starting pitchers Yovani Gallardo & Marco Estrada back in their spring training camp in Phoenix.
Gallardo pitched Friday in a 5-2 win over Team USA, tossing 3 1/3 innings in a 49-pitch start. He allowed two hits, one earned run and a walk with 4 strikeouts.
Estrada started against Canada and worked three innings. He gave up four runs in the first in a 10-3 loss.
Fortunately for both players, they avoided any trouble during the bench-clearing brawl between Mexico and Canada on Saturday night.
Both Gallardo and Estrada are required to go through exit WBC physicals before being cleared to rejoin the Brewers’ rotation for the final three weeks of Cactus League play.
