The Wisconsin State Patrol has identified two truck drivers killed when their truck plunged into a river Tuesday morning. That semi slid off Interstate 94 near Menomonie around 4 am Tuesday and went down an embankment into the Red Cedar river.
Emergency workers recovered the body of the driver, identified as 25-year-old Batrodin Siyad of Minneapolis. Divers will search again today for the co-driver, 26-year-old Mohammed Malin. The truck belonged to Dashman’s Transport of Lansing, Michigan.
The State Patrol says the highway was snow-covered and slippery at the time of the crash. A State Patrol squad car rolled over a few miles away while responding to another crash a few hours later. The officer was not hurt.
