The registration number is a new record and an improvement over last year’s count (18,428).  It’s also a large improvement over the previous record if 18,701.

Lani Rutto Kiplagat of Kenya grabbed the top spot in Saturday’s race with a time of 29:12.  Kiplagat, the runner up in the 2012 and 2011 races, finally edged out two-time defending Bellin Run champion Allan Kiprono who finished with a time of 29:34.

Risper Gesawba of Kenya easily captured her second consecutive title in the women’s division.  Her time was 32:58.

The Bellin Run always features a number of elite athletes each year.  Included in that group are some of the more recognizable athletes, Joan Samuelson of Maine (39:14), Uta Pippig of Colorado (46:09) and Bill Rodgers of Massachusetts (47:40).
