After one week of training camp and the team’s intrasquad scrimmage, it would
appear the Green Bay Packers have landed the physical running back they have been looking for.
In front of more than 63,000 (63,047) fans on Saturday night at Lambeau Field, second round pick Eddie Lacy got a chance to show his stuff with the pads on and live tackling.
Lacy rushed 8-times for 65 yards (unofficial) and a (8.1 per carry average).
What Lacy brought to the field on Saturday night, is what the Packers have been lacking for the past few seasons. Lacy said the offensive line did a great job.
Fellow rookie running back Johnathan Franklin (4th round) didn’t fare as well on Saturday night. Franklin unofficially tallied 18-yards on 7 carries. He also dropped a kickoff in the endzone.
Franklin had performed well during the first week of training camp and didn’t have a lot of running room on Saturday night.
