Appleton Xavier senior quarterback Matt Ferris has been named the Wisconsin Football
Coaches Association (WFCA) Offensive Player of the Year.
Ferris set single season state records in passing yards with 3,947 and touchdowns with 50. He also threw a record eight touchdowns in a single game earlier this season.
Ferris led the Hawks to a 11-2 record and a berth in the WIAA Division 3 state semifinals.
Ferris suffered a back injury in Xavier’s win against Seymour He didn’t start the semifinal game against Greendale but did start the second half, trying to help the Hawks, who eventually lost 44-20.
Mukwonago’s Dominic Cizauskas was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Hartford’s Pete Hoffman is the WFCA Coach of the year.
