As expected, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy ruled Aaron Rodgers out of tomorrow’s NFC North Division showdown against the Detroit Lions and declared Matt Flynn as his teams starter at quarterback.
Flynn has taken the starter reps all week-long bringing the Packers from behind last Sunday to salvage a 26-26 tie against the Minnesota Vikings.
Sam Shields had a full practice today and is expected to start for the Packers tomorrow. Mike McCarthy wouldn’t go into detail as to how he would handle coverage on Lions wideout Calvin Johnson. Johnson sat out the first game between the Packers and Lions in Green Bay.
Johnathan Franklin, Jamari Lattimore and C.J. Wilson all were ruled out of tomorrow’s game because of injury. TE Brandon Bostic didn’t participate in practice today because of a concussion, which would appear to make him a longshot for the Detroit game.
