When the Green Bay Packers face the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit,
they’ll do so without Aaron Rodgers. Head coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers chances of playing against the Lions would be labeled as “slim to none”. McCarthy said Rodgers wants to play, but he has not hit all of his targets in rehab and “it would be a huge stretch for him to play in this game.”
McCarthy didn’t reveal on Monday who his starter would be. He said he wanted both players prepared to play in the key NFC North division matchup.

Flynn played well against the Vikings on Sunday and rescued the Packers from what appeared to be a certain defeat. Tolzien didn’t play well prior to getting replaced, but he did throw the ball well in a loss to the Giants. He also has a stronger arm than Flynn. It’s possible that Mike McCarthy and his coaching staff is considering that when preparing for the Lions on Thursday.
The Packers practices this week will be more of the walk-through variety. The short turn-around won’t provide enough time in between games to get much work at all, let alone work in pads.
The Packers worked on Monday, but they didn’t practice. They’ll do that for the first time today. They’ll also practice on Wednesday, before departing for Detroit on Thursday to face the Lions at Ford Field.
