The Lincoln County Humane Society is scrambling to take care of over 50 puppies rescued from a condemned home over the weekend.
Shelter officials received a call from a woman on Saturday, who said she needed to surrender the dogs. Staff was expecting to find about 25 dogs, but discovered more than 50 puppies and full grown dogs living in a messy home with no water or heat. All of the dogs are in good health.
The large number of dogs is straining the resources of the shelter, which usually holds just 11 dogs. Many of the dogs are being kept in cat cages because of the lack of space in the shelter. The Humane Society is asking for donations to help care for the animals and is also taking the names of anyone interested in adopting one of the dogs.
