After scoring a career high 19-points against Northewestern on Jan. 2, Wisconsin Badger forward Nigel Hayes earned his second-straight Big Ten Conference Freshman of the
Week honor.
Hayes went 8-for-12 (.667) from the field and pulled down six rebounds, three assists and two steals in Thursday’s Big Ten opener at Northwestern. The freshman has reached double figures in three of UW’s last four games and is averaging 13.5 points per game during Big Ten play.
Over the last three games, Hayes is averaging 12.3 points a game while shooting 11 for 20 (.550) from the field as UW’s sixth man.
Hayes is just the sixth player in Big Ten history to earn back-to-back freshman of the week honors.
