Wisconsin unemployment rate holds at 5.7 percent

Wisconsin’s unemployment rate held steady in June.

According to the state Department of Workforce Development, a seasonally adjusted rate of 5.7 percent carried over from May, while the state rate also remained below the average of 6.1 percent. The state’s unemployment remains the lowest since October 2008, when the financial markets plunged and the nation just started feeling the effects of the Great Recession.

Numbers from the state also show that Wisconsin lost an estimated 1,200 private sector jobs last month.
