The Milwaukee Brewers losing streak reached four games, falling to the Kansas City Royals 7-2 at Miller Park on Tuesday night.
The Brewers were out-hit 17-9 and finished their six-game home stand with a 2-4 record.
Kansas City pitcher Chris Young pitched seven shutout innings and knocked in three runs with a pair of hits. He is the first American League pitcher with three rbi in a game since Seattle’s Felix Hernandez collected four against the New York Mets in 2008.
The Brewers fell 20 games behind the NL Central Division leading St. Louis Cardinals. They’re 11-24 at Miller Park this season.
Brewers starter Matt Garza served up six runs and a career high 13 hits, including a pair of home runs in falling to 4-8 with a 5.07 ERA.
The Brewers (24-42) now take their show to Kansas City for a pair of road games against the Royals. Mike Fiers (3-6, 4.04 ERA) goes for the Brewers. Joe Blanton (0-0, 1.80 ERA) pitches for the Royals.
