Republican leaders in the state Legislature are still negotiating over key issues in the state budget, and it remains unclear when the plan will be ready for a vote.
Transportation funding, a financing plan for a Milwaukee Bucks arena, and a repeal of the prevailing wage. Those are three areas Republicans have been trying to work out a deal on. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said Tuesday that “all three of those are working their way through the process, but they’re thorny and difficult to get to.”
Just how close majority Republicans are to an agreement remains unclear. Speaking with reporters, Vos could not say when the Joint Finance Committee will wrap up its work on the budget or when it might meet again. “We’re going to meet again this week to try to keep working through this document to try to get to an answer,” Vos said. “But I don’t want to say for sure it’s this week or next week.”

Vos did say though that they are trying to pass the budget before a July 1st deadline.
