A Wisconsin Congressman has doubts about Donald Trump winning the Republican presidential nomination.
The New York real estate developer has been crushing other GOP hopefuls in recent polls, with some showing Trump with double digit leads over much of the competition. Despite the strong showing, U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI) does not expect that momentum to continue as election season moves forward.
Duffy said “as the bold rhetoric wears off, and we actually get to the substance of who he is and the ideas he has for the country, I think the conservative movement, the Republicans will probably look somewhere else for someone who can fix the great problems.”
During a stop at a in the Wausau-area Thursday, Duffy added that he’s not worried about Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s lagging poll numbers, because he believes Walker has solid ideas that the country can resonate with in the future. Walker has seen his status as a top contender in the race evaporate in recent weeks as Trump has gained momentum.
