Two of baseball’s worst teams hooked up at Miller Park on Friday night. Wily Peralta pitched seven scoreless innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Peralta allowed six hits and two walks while striking out three. He improved to 3-7 with a 4.07 ERA.
Jean Segura drove in the Brewers first run with a single and took second on the throw home. Jonathan Lucroy then followed with a drive to right-center that Phillies center-fielder Odubel Herrera hauled in on the warning track. When Herrera collided with rightfielder Domonic Brown, Segura tagged and scored from second base.
The Phillies would score their only run in the 9th inning off of Francisco Rodriguez. K-Rod earned his 27th save in as many chances. Rodriguez has now saved 32 straight games, dating back to last season.
Game two of the series is tonight at Miller Park.
