Wisconsin state Senate Republicans plan a jobs listening tour. They want to get out of the “Madison bubble,” according to Senator Rick Gudex (R-Fond du Lac), who chairs the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Commerce. “We’re going to have an open forum with invited guests that will be able to tell us region by region what’s working and what’s not working,” Gudex said.
The listening tour will make fives stops – Oak Creek, Rhinelander, Appleton, Menomonie and Platteville, September 24th through October 26th.
Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) said employers tell her of a worker shortage. “We have a ‘skills gap,’ but we also have an issue of our putting disincentives on the table for people going back to work,” Darling said.
