Wisconsin senior outside linebacker Joe Schobert was named the Big Ten’s co-defensive player of the week for his outstanding performance in the Badgers 10-6 loss to Iowa on Saturday.
Schobert finished with eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and five quarterback hurries.
It is Schobert’s second Big Ten defensive player of the week honor and the first for the program since Schobert earned the honor on Nov. 17, 2014.
Schobert leads the nation with nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss and is tied for the national lead with four forced fumbles.
The Waukesha native has anchored a Badgers defense that ranks fourth nationally in scoring defense, at 9.6 points per game.
Schobert and the Badgers hit the road in Big Ten play this week, facing the Cornhuskers in Nebraska.
