A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman was killed Tuesday by her 2-year-old child, who found a loaded gun in the back seat of the car Patrice Price was driving.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Price was shot once in the back as she drove south on Highway 175 at about 10:30 a.m. Deputies and paramedics attempted to revive Price but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a press release, the child was in the back seat when the gun slid out from under the driver’s seat. Deputies found a security officer’s gun belt, belonging to Price’s boyfriend, on the floor of the front passenger seat, and a .40-caliber gun on the floor of the back seat behind the driver’s seat.
Price’s mother and 1-year-old child were in the front passenger seat at the time of the shooting and neither child was in a car seat, according to the release.
