State Senator Jennifer Shilling has announced that she’ll run for reelection. The La Crosse Democrat represents the 32nd District in southwestern Wisconsin and serves as minority leader in the Senate.
Shilling was first elected to the Senate in the 2011 recall of Republican Dan Kapanke and reelected in 2012. In a statement, the lawmakers says she hears from residents who are concerned about the direction the state is headed, and that Republican actions have forced deep cuts to schools, infrastructure and worker training programs.
Prior to her election to the state Senate, Shilling served in the Assembly for more than a decade. She’ll face Kapanke in the November election, the Republican announced last week that he’ll run for the seat which he held for 7 years before his loss to Shilling.
