More than 40 people were cited for underage drinking after the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office got an anonymous tip about a party in the Town of Byron last Friday night. Deputy Sheriff Mark Strand said when deputies arrived there were about 100 people ranging in age from 17-23-years-old. He said five deputies remained on the scene for about 3 ½ hours to make sure everyone got home safely.
“Eventually they’re all going to leave, and I’ve always said ‘bad things happen to good people all the time,’ and the last thing we want is to be responding to accidents and then we’ll figure out where it all came from.”
Forty-two people were cited for underage drinking, two were taken into custody on outstanding warrants and a 21-year-old was cited for “social hosting.” Strand said he’s glad the department heard about the party early, and that they don’t have the luxury of just not dealing with it “nor would we want to.” The incident was reported just before 11 p.m. Friday night.
