More than 100 proposals have been made to improve the climate on the UW Madison campus. Meredith McGlone, Director of News and Media Relations, notes it’s been “a very challenging semester” on the Madison campus.
“We’ve had a number of incidents involving hate and bias related behavoirs towards students and others that have the chancellor and really everybody here deeply concerned,” McGlone said.
With that in mind, Chancellor Rebecca Blank solicited the proposals in March — and more than 100 have been submitted and referred to a committee.
“That committee has been meeting, sifting and winnowing these more than 100 proposals. They are still in the process of doing their work and do not have final recommendations,” said McGlone.
Among the ideas are academic courses, social and cultural programming, and campus dialogues, all of which are being reviewed by a committee. They can be viewed at campusclimate.wisc.edu.
