Proposed legislation would allow people killed or injured in gun-free zones in Wisconsin to sue. It’s from state Representative Bob Gannon (R- Slinger).
“If a business posts a sign that says ‘no weapons,’ and somebody is harmed . . . then it is strict liability,” Gannon said. “That means you do not argue about whose fault it is, it’s the businesses fault.”
Gannon’s proposal, which he said he’ll introduce in January, would provide for triple damages for victims. “My motivation here is to encourage businesses to allow licensed concealed carry holders to defend themselves and others,” he said.
