Two days of golf are in the books at University Ridge in Madison, and the WIAA has crowned six boys champions.
In Division 1, Marquette University School led from start to finish, winning their first ever championship with a team total of 598. The Hilltoppers +22 score was eight strokes better than Middleton.
However, Middleton senior Emmet Herb carded the best individual round of the tournament. Herb posted a six-under 138 to take medalist honors by seven shots.
The Division 2 championship belongs to Waukesha Catholic Memorial for the third time in the last four years. The Crusaders rallied from third place to start Round 2 and finished at +45 (621), a dozen clear of Edgewood.
Individually, Sheboygan Falls senior Matt Bachmann was the top returning finisher from 2015, and took another step forward with a three-over-par 147 to take medalist honors by three shots.
St. Mary’s Springs was the lone team to succesfully defend it’s team championship, winning the Division 3 title for a second consecutive year. (Defending champs Arrowhead and Lodi were in the field in Divisions 1 and 2, respectively.) The Ledgers ran away Cochrane-Fountain City by shooting a 53-over-par 629, 27 shots in front.
The individual winner was Tyler Leach of Spring Valley, whose two-over-par 146 was good enough for a six stroke victory. Leach placed in third the year before.
