For the second day in a row, a person has drowned on the Red Cedar River in western Wisconsin. Dunn County deputies were called late Monday afternoon to the Downsville boat landing in the town of Dunn.
A man was unconscious when he was pulled from the river near the boat landing, and some inner tubers he tried to save gave him CPR before he was flown to an Eau Claire hospital where he died. The tubers drifted by a takeout point at the landing, and the drowning victim’s name was not immediately released.
An investigation continues into an incident Sunday on the Red Cedar River at Sand Creek, where 43-year-old Susan Shackleton of rural New Auburn was swept downstream.
