The Dane County Sheriff’s office says the popular Pokemon Go mobile game played a role in separate single-vehicle crashes over the weekend.
Both crashes happened early Saturday morning in Verona and involved Madison-area men in their mid-20s. The Sheriff’s office says both men admitted they were playing the game when they crashed – one into a pole, and the other into a tree.
The men received only minor injuries. Both were cited for first offense OWI and other violations.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says the case should serve as a reminder to drivers to keep their full attention on driving while behind the wheel. “Anything that takes your attention away from the task of driving puts lives at risk,” reads a statement from the department.
