The state Department of Natrual Resources has released a list of possible site for relocating its Forestry Division.
The agency is asking for public comment about moving its forestry offices to Wausau, Rhinelander, or Hayward. A final decision is expected to be made within a few months, when the DNR gives its budget request for the following two year period to Governor Scott Walker.
The Forestry Division, which has 56 employees, has long been a located at the DNR headquarters in Madison. More than 40 places expressed an interest in having it move to their communities, after lawmakers ordered a move in the last state budget.
