Leaders in Chippewa County are teaming up to help combat a high number of methamphetamine cases. The impact of meth on kids was discussed at a public forum Tuesday night in Chippewa Falls, where the Police Department is teaming up with the Chippewa County Department of Human Services to stop the trend.
Use of the drug is reportedly spreading to high school and even middle school students.
The number of children displaced from meth-related cases has jumped from just 10 in 2013 to 64 displacements this year. The reason for the spike could be a part of increased awareness and advanced testing that allows the Department of Human Services to validate their concerns.
Three more meetings will be scheduled to take place over the next few months.
