A Madison man was arrested after a day-long standoff on Wednesday. According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year old Eric Pottinger fled on foot Monday, after a detective attempted to arrest him on a warrant for a parole violation. He ran into the woods behind his home and was not located.
A patrol deputy noticed activity inside the residence on Tuesday and alerted the U.S. Marshals Task Force. The task force made an entry into the house and Pottinger retreated to an attic. He then crawled through a small window to the roof.
Additional deputies, along with the Madison Fire Department, responded in an attempt to talk him down peacefully, but he remained uncooperative and threatening. He was eventually tased twice and taken into custody.
Pottinger now faces charges of recklessly endangering safety, and failure to comply with law enforcement.
