Police in central Wisconsin are investigating two reports of rarely seen cougars.
Both were spotted on the west side of Marshfield. Police say they were called to a house early Thursday near a wooded area close to the two year UW college and a city ordinance officer confirmed seeing the animal upon responding, which ran into the woods. On Thursday evening, police reported another cougar sighting close to Marshfield Columbus Catholic High School, but police could not confirm that report.
Police Chief Rick Gramza says people should not try to pursue the mountain lions if they see them. There have been occasional reports of cougars heading east from a habitat in South Dakota the past few years.
