Governor Scott Walker is asking federal officials to issue an agricultural disaster declaration for three northern Wisconsin counties.
The request to the U.S. Department of Agriculture covers Ashland, Bayfield, and Iron counties. Those areas lost at least 30 percent of their alfalfa, barley, corn, oat, and wheat crops due to flooding in early July.
A disaster declaration would help farmers in the region access federal assistance programs.
