Madison police have identified the suspected gunman in a shooting nearly a week ago. They say 27-year-old Brandon Crockett should be considered armed and dangerous. He’s believed to be the trigger man in a shooting on Madison’s south side.
The 25-year-old victim received critical head wounds in a hail of gunfire. Over two dozen rounds were found at the scene.
Police believe a personal argument may have led to the attack. This investigation has led to the arrest of a half-dozen people on charges unrelated to the shooting.
Madison police chief Mike Koval said the shooting in the normally quiet Arbor Hills neighborhood reflects a citywide shots fired trend. “We’ve had over 80 shots fired throughout the city,” Koval said during a Monday night meeting with neighborhood residents. “Though September has been rough for Arbor Hills it is more the anomaly than the rule. This sort of thing does not typically happen here.”
