The Wisconsin Supreme Court will be hearing oral arguments in three cases at the Bayfield County Courthouse in Washburn Wednesday.
The visit is part of the court’s “Justice on Wheels” outreach program that gives people around the state an opportunity to observe the court at work without having to travel to Madison.
Bayfield County is the 27th location where the court has held arguments since the program started in 1993.
An opening ceremony will feature a welcome by the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Local attorneys from the Ashland-Bayfield County Bar Association will take some time before each case to explain some of the legal issues being considered and the role of the courts in interpreting the law.
Seats to observe the proceedings are open to the public but space at the courthouse is limited.
