McAdoo, the team’s tight ends coach, is considered the favorite to replace Tom Clements as quarterbacks coach. Clements was promoted to offensive coordinator last week by the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers, on his weekly radio show on WAUK-AM, said he hopes he’s in the loop on the decision as to who the next quarterbacks coach is in Green Bay.

Rodgers told the show’s host Jason Wilde, “Because I’m in my eighth season, it will be interesting to see what direction Mike McCarthy wants to go in, if he wants to bring in a former quarterback with experience to kind of help me with the transition into the middle part of my career a more of an established player in th e league now. I’m not sure what the dynamic would be with a coach who hasn’t coached the position before. But Ben is a very talented coach and if they do make that decision, I’m sure he will make a smooth transition.”

Hawaii and now NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is considering dropping the game.

Goodell told ESPN Radio that he is disappointed in the quality of Pro Bowl and changes must be considered,l perhaps even dropping the game altogether.

Goodell said this year’s Pro Bowl wasn’t “the kind of football we want to be demonstrating to our fans, and you heard it from the fans, the fans were actively booing in the stands.”

Goodell spoke with the NFL Players Association about his disappointment in the game. He said, “We are going to either have to improve the quality of what we are doing in the Pro Bowl or consider other changes, or even consider eliminating the game if that is the kind of quality of game we are going to provide.

In the game, the AFC won 59-41 and both sides seemed dis-interested in playing any defense at all.

The performance even drew the criticism of Green BayPackers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers even went as far as saying some of his NFC teammates embarrassed themselves.

Clements has been the Packers’ quarterbacks coach for the last six seasons. He has previous offensive coordinator experience with the Buffalo Bills in 2004-05.

The Chicago Bears tried to hire Clements away as offensive coordinator two years ago, but Mike McCarthy wouldn’t allow the Bears to talk to Clements because he was still under contract in Green Bay.

In a written statement, coach Mike McCarthy said, “Tom has been an integral part of our success and our staff, making it an obvious decision to promote him to offensive coordinator. He has earned this opportunity, and we look forward to continued offensive success in 2012.”

Clements has played a big role in Aaron Rodgers’ development since his arrival in Green Bay some six years ago.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finalized a 5-year deal with Rutgers’ coach Greg Schiano to become the teams next head coach.

Former Packers coach Mike Sherman was scheduled to meet for a second time with the Buccaneers yesterday but is out of the running.

The 45-year-old Schiano has been an assistant coach in the NFL with the Chicago Bears from 1996-98. He’s coached the Scarlet Knights for 11 years, leading the program to winning seasons in 6 of the last 7 seasons.

The Bucs fired Raheem Morris after a 4-12 record that included 10-straight losses.

There’s a chance that Sherman could still become the offensive coordinator in Miami under new Dolphins coach Joe Philbin.

Kohl Center

certainly looks like Green Bay has put more on the table for the WIAA to consider with regards to the future of the State basketball and wrestling tournaments.

Both cities gave their pitch to the WIAA Board of Control on Wednesday.

Based on conversations with both parties, it would appear that the Green Bay contingent has more to offer at the moment, with a guarantee that the Resch Center would be available to the WIAA on the dates needed.

Availability is an issue for the Kohl Center starting next year (2013) already. But even more important, the long-term availability is something that can only happen if the Big Ten Conference men’s hockey schools change the format of the Big Ten Tournament.

The Green Bay group (PMI Entertainment Group) has lobbied for the hotels to jump on board which they have by guaranteeing that they won’t jack the rates or require 2-night minimums. There’s plenty of available parking that’s easily accessible. The Packers have jumped in as well to become a part of the bid. PMI President & CEO Ken Wachter said they handed the WIAA their best offer.

AUDIO: Ken Wachter said they put their best foot forward :10

Wachter said he believes Green Bay and the Resch Center can compete with the Kohl Center.

AUDIO: Ken Wachter says they can compete with the Kohl Center :18

AUDIO: Ken Wachter said they’ve addressed in their bid, problems that exist in Madison :14

If PMI Entertainment would get the tournaments in Green Bay, there’s more to throw out on the table as well, things like the creation of a WIAA Experience.

So, what is the issue if Green Bay does indeed hold the cards on the best offer to the WIAA?

History! The WIAA State Basketball and Wrestling tournaments have been in Madison for a long time. I think Green Bay would do a fabulous job of hosting the tournaments. But the teams, the players, coaches and even their fans want the state tournament to be in Madison, where the Badgers play.

But with that being said, Madison can’t take that for granted. The Madison group needs to put their best foot forward and get some help from Big Ten Hockey to show the WIAA that they will be able to guarantee the Kohl Center dates well into the future.

Indianapolis appears to be going in a direction that doesn’t include any Green Bay Packers assistant coaches, which means the chances of Mike McCarthy losing any more of his assistant coaches is diminishing.

A number of teams still have coordinator positions open, but Allen’s hiring in Oakland means Dom Capers and Winston Moss, who both interviewed for the Raiders opening, will be returning to Green Bay for now.

McCarthy and his coaching staff is currently in Hawaii, preparing the NFC squad for this weekends Pro Bowl. Practices are scheduled to begin today. Six Packers will play for the NFC squad with John Kuhn sitting out because of a knee injury he suffered in the Packers season ending loss to the New York Giants.

decades. That’s when general manager Ron Wolf hired Mike Holmgren to coach the Packers. It was that move that set the wheels in motion once again for the Green Bay Packers organization.

Holmgren led the Packers into the playoffs in six of his seven seasons, compiling an overall record of 75-37. The Packers won the NFC Central three times and NFC Championship twice. Under Holmgren, the Packers won the Super Bowl in the 1996 season.

Those accomplishments will land Holmgren into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in late July. Ron Wolf will be Holmgren’s presenter during the July 21st ceremony.

Holmgren left Green Bay to take the General Manager/Head Coaching positions in Seattle. It was just a couple of years later that Ron Wolf retired as the GM of the Packers.

Holmgren said he would have stayed in Green Bay had he known Wolf was going to leave so soon. But he also stated that he has no regrets and refused to look back.

Holmgren is now the president of the Cleveland Browns. But his contribution to the Green Bay Packers, from molding QB Brett Favre to leading the Packers out of a long dark period and leading them to a Super Bowl championship.

Holmgren looks at himself as a teacher. He not only taught his players, but he also taught his assistant coaches. In fact, since taking over in Green Bay, 9 of his assistant coaches have gone on to become a head coach.
