Returning from a stint on the disabled list, Junior Guerra combined with six relievers to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 1-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at P-N-C Park in Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Scooter Gennett’s double to center off of Pirates starter Jameson Taillon in the sixth inning accounted for the only run of the game. Martin Maldonado was hit by a pitch leading off the sixth, took second on a hit and run ground ball, tagged and went to third on a flyout and the scored on Gennett’s hit.
Guerra pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings after sitting out a month with right-elbow inflammation. His pitch count climbed to 70 when he was removed, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out three. [Read more…]
