Barrett pledges to work with Walker (AUDIO)

Democrat Tom Barrett talks to supporters after conceding the race for Governor.

His campaign held out as long as possible while waiting for results to come in from Madison and Milwaukee, but Democrat Tom Barrett finally had to concede to his Republican opponent in the race for governor.

Barrett told supporters gathered in Milwaukee Tuesday night that he had called Scott Walker just before taking the stage to address them. Barrett said he told Walker that he wanted to work together to address the serious problems facing the state. [Read more...]

Election Day is here

After months of almost endless campaign ads, debates, and tours around the state, Wisconsin voters have a chance to make their voices heard today.

Officials with the state Government Accountability Board are predicting moderate turnout at the polls, with about half of eligible voters expected to cast ballots. GAB Director Kevin Kennedy says it’s about 20-percent less than the number of people who came to the polls in 2008, but around what Wisconsin typically sees in a year without a presidential election on the ballot. Democrats making last minute push

With a close contest for Russ Feingold’s U.S. Senate seat and polls showing Democrat Tom Barrett trailing in the race for governor, party leaders are hitting the streets and phone lines this weekend to try and rally voters to their candidates.

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Mike Tate says over 4,000 volunteers will be out knocking on doors and making phone calls in the final days before next Tuesday’s election. [Read more...]

Barrett continues stem cell criticism

The Democratic candidate in the race for governor continues to go after his Republican opponent’s views on stem cell research.

Democrat Tom Barrett has been criticizing Republican Scott Walker in ads and on the campaign trail for saying he’d stop state funding for embryonic stem cell research. Barrett is also attacking Walker for not answering questions on if he supports a ban, saying he’s refused to answer the question to reporters. [Read more...]

Feingold and Johnson meet in first debate

The attacks from both sides echoed many of the campaign ads that have filled the airwaves for the past several months, as the two candidates vying for one of Wisconsin’s U.S. Senate seats met Friday night in their first debate.

The debate between incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold and Republican challenger Ron Johnson saw both candidates take questions on a wide range of topics, including health care, Social Security, energy policy, and the war in Afghanistan. [Read more...]
