Packers offense flying high

The Green Bay Packers rolled up 507 yards of offense and crushed the Denver Broncos 49-23 at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers passed for a career high 408 yards and four touchdowns.  He also ran for two more scores. 

Through four games, the Packers have piled up 148 points scored.  that’s a franchise record for points in the first four games of a season. [Read more...]

The play is carried out when the coverage is right,  It requires a quarterback with good arm strength and accuracy, which Aaron Rodgers has, and it requires great timing.

No Pro Bowl trip for the Packers

The Green Bay Packers five Pro Bowl selections and one Pro Bowl alternate won’t be making the trip to Hawaii for this weekend’s

game. 

Charles Woodson, Clay Matthews, Greg Jennings, Chad Clifton, Nick Collins and Tramon Williams will be preparing for the Super Bowl in two weeks, which means they won’t be playing in the Pro Bowl.  Williams made the squad as an alternate after Asante Samuel of the Eagles pulled out because of injury.  The other five were voted in. 

Jennings said he’ll gladly give up the trip to the Pro Bowl, given the alternative.

Packers to send 5 players to Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl squads were announced on Tuesday and the Green Bay Packers

have five players named to the NFC team.

Chad Clifton and Greg Jennings were selected on offense, with Jennings making his very first trip.  Nick Collins, Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson are the defensive players selected and all three will start.

It’s the most Pro Bowl selections since the Packers also sent 5 players to the 2007 Pro Bowl game.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and defensive back Tramon Williams were named first alternates.

Rodgers is NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week, his first career Player of the Week award.

Rodgers completed 21 of 30 passes (70%) for 298 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 135.1 passer rating in the Packers’ 34-16 win over San Francisco.

Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception in five straight starts, the first Packer to go that long without a pick since Bart Starr back in 1966.  Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception in 177 attempts, the second-longest streak in franchise history (Starr – 294).

Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings said Rodgers is playing great and everything starts with him.
