Charges filed in murder of young boys

While police say 28-year-old David Hoem did not admit to police that he killed four-year-old Kevin McArthur and his three-year-old brother Kemaurey, they say he did tell investigators the biblical figure Daniel had simply given the boys a big embrace while they were in his car, after which they both smiled and went to sleep.

Hoem, who was the boyfriend of the boys’ mother, is accused of strangling the children and is being charged with two counts of first degree intentional homicide. [Read more...]

Possible double homicide in Madison

Police in Madison are investigating a possible double homicide involving two young boys. The bodies of the two children, ages three and four years old, were found early this morning in a car parked near a business on Madison’s north side.

Police have detained a 28-year-old man in connection with the deaths. That person of interest was acquainted with the children, but is not their father. [Read more...]

Martin says hello to Amherst (AUDIO)

UW-Madison Chancellor Biddy Martin took a trip to Amherst College for a ceremony introducing her as the soon-to-be president. Martin is leaving her Wisconsin after being heavily recruited by the Massachusetts college.

Saturday rallies top 60,000 on Square

After a week of protesters rallying in Madison, supporters of the Budget Repair bill have their say over the weekend.

While thousands of people show their support for Governor Scott Walker at the state capitol on Saturday chanting “thank you Scott,” some folks were more focused on the no-show senators. “I want people to vote and get this over with. We elected a Republican governor, a Republican House and Senate; we got to get it over with.”

All 14 Democrats in the senate fled the state on Wednesday to avoid a vote on the controversial measure. [Read more...]

Baby born at fire station

Frantic moments Thursday evening ended with the birth of a baby boy at a fire station on Madison’s east side. A young couple realized they wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time, so they called 911. Dispatcher Mike Chamberlain directed them to the fire station as the woman, a first-time mom, was already in labor. And then in just a couple minutes, another call to dispatch, as Fire Station Number Five confirmed the baby’s arrival at 5:45 p.m.
