Kuhn will miss Pro Bowl

Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn suffered a medial collateral ligament

sprain in the NFC Divisional playoff loss to the New York Giants.  Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Kuhn would not be able to play in the upcoming Pro Bowl in Honolulu.

Wide receiver Greg Jennings suffered a rib contusion in that game, but coach McCarthy said he expects Jennings will be able to play on the Pro Bowl.

McCarthy’s 15-1 team had many issues

The Green Bay Packers had issues all season long.  It’s almost hard to believe

Mike McCarthy

they went 15-1 in the regular season.  But when it really counted the most, the Packers couldn’t deliver in the playoffs and they bowed out with a 37-20 loss to the New York Giants in the divisional playoffs at Lambeau Field.

The dropped passes that the Packers experienced in the playoff loss were present throughout the season.  But the fumbles were uncharacteristic.

On defense the Packers couldn’t rush the passer which is where the problems started, but certainly didn’t end there.  A league high 31 interceptions during the regular season gave the Packers hope.  But when the defense managed just 1 take/away against the Giants, the Packers couldn’t pull off the win. 15-1 means little right now

At some point down the road, everyone will look back at this record-breaking

15-1 season and remember just how special it was.  For now, 15-1 means nothing.

Packer Nation didn’t know how to act walking out of Lambeau Field after yesterday’s game.  They just watched their team blow up in every facet of their game.  The Packers turned it over 4 times. had a number of dropped passes, couldn’t stop the Giants passing game and gave up a Hail Mary touchdown at the end of the 1st half to go up 10 on the Packers. Packers pursuit of perfection ends at Arrowhead

Dealing with injuries and the pressure that goes along with the pursuit of a perfect season, the Green Bay Packers winning streak finally came to an end.  After 19-straight victories and a 13-0 record to start this season, the unlikely villain turned out to be the Kansas City Chiefs.  It was the Chiefs that dominated the time of possession and committed zero turnovers in a 19-14 upset victory over the Packers.

The Packers struggled offensively.  Aaron Rodgers completed less than 50% of his passes (17-35), although he had plenty of help.  In the first half, Green Bay receivers dropped six passes, four of them by tight end Jermichael Finley who has had plenty of issues hanging on to the football this season.  Jordy Nelson was even hit with a pair of offensive pass interference penalties.  Aaron Rodgers was also sacked four times.

Defensively, the Packers struggled to get off the field and despite leading the NFL in interceptions, got nothing from the Chiefs.  Kyle Orton, who has lost to the Packers earlier this season as a member of the Denver Broncos, completed 23 of 31 for 299 yards and turned out to be a real difference maker.

The Chiefs gave their interim head coach Romeo Crennel a win in his first game after Todd Haley was fired earlier in the week.

The Packers may still go on to win the Super Bowl, but they won’t do it as an unbeaten team.  They have home games left against the Bears on Christmas night and the Lions on New Years day.  They’ll try to correct their mistakes on film and then start getting ready for the Chicago Bears next.

Sitton could play this weekend

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Josh Sitton could be back in the starting

Josh Sitton

lineup on Sunday at Kansas City.

Sitton participated in individual drills, worked with the scout team and took some snaps with the first team offense.

Sitton hasn’t played since he suffered a sprained right knee on Thanksgiving day at Detroit.

Elsewhere, A.J. Hawk has practiced all week and will play on Sunday.  Desmond Bishop continues to be slowed by his calf injury and appears to be a long shot to play on Sunday.

Defensive end Ryan Pickett and running back Brandon Saine missed practice with their concussions.  Mike McCarthy was optimistic about both being able to play earlier in the week.
