Kershaw gets best of Brewers again

For the second time this season, Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw got the best of the Milwaukee Brewers, holding the crew to 1 run on 3 hits in a 3-1 Los Angeles victory at Miller Park.

Late last month, Kershaw blanked the Brewers through 8-innings.  Last night he went the distance, walking 1 and striking out 5.

Yovani Gallardo (3-4) took the loss, giving up home runs to Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier.  Gallardo looked better and his velocity was up.  Unfortunately, the two mistakes he made would be too much to beat Kershaw.

The Brewers did get good production from their bullpen.  John Axford, Michael Gonzalez and Burke Badenhop all worked a scoreless inning of relief.

The Brewers will try to turn things around against the Dodgers tonight, but they’ll have to beat former hurler Zach Greinke.  Greinke has never lost at Miller Park, going 15-0 lifetime in Milwaukee.

Lohse allowed four runs on six hits in the fourth inning and the Cardinals made that hold up for a 4-2 victory.

The Cardinals improved to 8-2 this season against the Brewers.  They won for the 14th time in the last 17 games and finished a 10-game home stand with a 7-3 record.

The Brewers got 10-hits on the day, but all 10 were singles.  They scored their only two runs in the sixth inning when Yuniesky Betancourt and Jeff Bianchi each collected run scoring singles to score Nori Aoki and Ryan Braun.

The Brewers continued their offensive struggles, especially in the clutch.  They’re 2 for 20 with runners in scoring position during the last 3-games.  Milwaukee has managed to score three runs in the last 23 innings.

The Brewers have dropped 12 of their last 14 games and their 16-23 record is the worst mark in the Central Division.

K-Rod is back with the Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers are bringing back veteran reliever Francisco Rodriguez, after a month-long tryout in the minors.

The Brewers made room on the 40-man roster by moving Taylor Green from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.  They then sent catcher-first baseman Blake Lalli to Nashville.

Rodriguez made back-to-back appearances for AAA Nashville on Monday and Tuesday.  He walked 1 and struck out 3 in his final outing.

Rodriguez appeared in 78 games for the Brewers last season, finishing 2-7 with a 4.38 ERA.  He’s scheduled to make $2-million for the season.
