Estrada returns to form, Brewers end losing skid

After a couple of poor outings, Marco Estrada turned in a solid performance on Monday night.  Estrada allowed just 3-hits through 7-innings and pitched the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The Brewers put a halt to their 4-game losing streak and it was a big turn-around for Estrada, who coughed up 8-runs on 6-hits in a loss to the Cardinals on May 5th.

It’s all in the way the wind blows!

Monday was not a normal April day in Chicago.  Normally the wind at Wrigley Field

is blowing in and the temperatures are low.  Yesterday, with the wind blowing out and the temperatures respectable, the Milwaukee Brewers scored 4-runs in the 1st inning and held off the Cubs 7-4.

The wind that helped the Brewers get the lead, changed directions late and helped them pull out the win.  With the bases loaded full of Cubs, Starlin Castro’s 2-out drive would have at the very least, hit the wall with the wind blowing out.  But blowing in, Castro’s drive turned in to a fly ball out and Jim Henderson earned his first save of the season.
