WRN Sports Daily (Video)

In today’s WRN Sports Daily, there’s trouble brewing in Oshkosh with the men’s baseball program.  Long time head coach Tom Lechnir has been told his contract isn’t being renewed for next season.  After 728 wins, he’s baffled at the move and is considering legal action against the school.

The Brewers dropped their series finale to the Dodgers.  I ask, why can’t Ron Roenicke be more like Don Mattingly?

During Packers OTA’s, the offense has been running the pistol and read option.  We’ll tell you why in this segment of the WRN Sports Daily.

Kershaw gets best of Brewers again

For the second time this season, Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw got the best of the Milwaukee Brewers, holding the crew to 1 run on 3 hits in a 3-1 Los Angeles victory at Miller Park.

Late last month, Kershaw blanked the Brewers through 8-innings.  Last night he went the distance, walking 1 and striking out 5.

Yovani Gallardo (3-4) took the loss, giving up home runs to Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier.  Gallardo looked better and his velocity was up.  Unfortunately, the two mistakes he made would be too much to beat Kershaw.

The Brewers did get good production from their bullpen.  John Axford, Michael Gonzalez and Burke Badenhop all worked a scoreless inning of relief.

The Brewers will try to turn things around against the Dodgers tonight, but they’ll have to beat former hurler Zach Greinke.  Greinke has never lost at Miller Park, going 15-0 lifetime in Milwaukee.

Brewers’ struggles continue

The Milwaukee Brewers managed just 6-hits (all singles) last night and fell to the

Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 at PNC Park.   It’s the third straight loss to the Pirates after the Brewers won the series opener on Monday.

The Brewers continued their offensive struggles, especially in the clutch.  They’re 2 for 20 with runners in scoring position during the last 3-games.  Milwaukee has managed to score three runs in the last 23 innings.

The Brewers have dropped 12 of their last 14 games and their 16-23 record is the worst mark in the Central Division.

Brewers blow lead, fall to Pirates

Once again, the Milwaukee Brewers took a lead into the late innings, only to come away with a 4-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 12-innings.

Andrew McCutchen provided the decisive blow, a walk-off home run to right-center field off of Mike Fiers to win it for the Pirates.

Milwaukee held a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning.  That’s when manager Ron Roenicke went to former closer John Axford.  Axford gave up a leadoff single to Neil Walker and a run scoring double to Russell Martin to allow the Pirates to tie the game. [Read more...]

Rangers on Wednesday night at Miller Park.

Starter Kyle Lohse is no stranger to low offensive output.  Lohse worked 6 1/3 innings but was saddled with the loss, falling to 1-4.  Lohse gave up three runs in the first three innings, surrendering home runs to Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland.  In his 7-starts, the Brewers have managed to score just 14 runs.
