Barrett says Republicans “drunk on power”

Milwaukee’s mayor says Republicans in the Legislature and Governor Walker are “drunk on power” and Democrats need to mobilize to stop their agenda.

Speaking at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s convention in Milwaukee over the weekend, the former candidate for Governor told delegates the GOP has “sold out the middle class and Wisconsin values for a 12-pack of special interest brew.” Barrett says it’s up to Democrats to sober them up. Barrett pledges to work with Walker (AUDIO)

His campaign held out as long as possible while waiting for results to come in from Madison and Milwaukee, but Democrat Tom Barrett finally had to concede to his Republican opponent in the race for governor.

Barrett told supporters gathered in Milwaukee Tuesday night that he had called Scott Walker just before taking the stage to address them. Barrett said he told Walker that he wanted to work together to address the serious problems facing the state. [Read more...]

Barrett continues stem cell criticism

The Democratic candidate in the race for governor continues to go after his Republican opponent’s views on stem cell research.

Democrat Tom Barrett has been criticizing Republican Scott Walker in ads and on the campaign trail for saying he’d stop state funding for embryonic stem cell research. Barrett is also attacking Walker for not answering questions on if he supports a ban, saying he’s refused to answer the question to reporters. [Read more...]

Barrett cautious on concealed carry

A judge in Clark County this week ruled the state’s ban on carrying a concealed firearm is unconstitutional, renewing discussions over whether the state should pass a law to legalize the practice.

The Republican candidate for governor is avoiding questions on whether he’d pursue a ban on embryonic stem cell research.

A campaign attack ad from Democratic candidate for governor Tom Barrett claims Republican opponent Scott Walker wants to ban stem cell research in Wisconsin. Walker says the ad is an outright lie, since he fully supports continued research using adult stem cells. [Read more...]
